The MIST-VR Laparoscopic Trainer uses virtual reality
software to train the user in dexterity skills used in laparoscopic surgery.
The program also times the user and records error rates. The MIST-VR Trainer
has a handset for dexterity drills and users view a schematic drawing on a
monitor while attempting the drills. The trainer then shows a view of an actual
surgery demonstrating the skills that the user is practicing.
Laboratory sessions consist of:

Core Set 1 (easy, medium, hard levels) and Core Set 2 (medium, hard levels)
